DFで注目したいのは塩谷選手。大学3年までボランチを務めていたこともあり、パスの能力が高く、最後尾からビルドアップをしたいチームにとってもってこいのCBである(CBでありながらショートパス精度、ロングパス精度の両方が70を超えている)。

中盤では小澤選手とフランク選手が中心。小澤選手は小柄ながらもパスセンスに長けており、相手の急所をえぐるスルーパスを出すことを得意としている。そして2列目の選手ながらもシュート技術が高く、ゴール前に入り込んでシュートを叩き込むのも彼のプレースタイルである。フランク選手が優れているのはシュート力。2列目から豪快に放つミドルシュートが水戸の攻撃のアクセントとなっている。また、南米出身選手特有のメンタルの強さも秘めている(メンタル77)。激しいボディーコンタクトで相手を吹き飛ばす力強さが彼の武器である(ボディバランス79)。


そして、前線では鈴木隆選手が軸。全盛期を彷彿させる体の強さを生かして前線で起点となる(ボディバランス81)。彼が起点となり、2列目、3列目の選手が絡んで攻撃に厚みをつけることが水戸のスタイルである。
